What is Gastritis?

Gastritis can be defined as the inflammation of the lining of the stomach and is often caused due to a variety of reasons. One of the most common symptoms of this ailment is abdominal upset or pain, which can be followed by indigestion and abdominal. This disease normally does not require any professional diagnosis but in people who suffer from chronic forms of this ailment tests like gastroscopy along with blood test, complete blood count test and stool test can be done.

Symptoms of Gastritis:
It has been known that one of the most common symptoms of gastritis is stomach ache or abdominal pain. Often the seniors have higher chances of developing painless stomach damage and in such cases they experience no symptoms at all. Hence there is no pain or vomiting, when they suffer from gastritis and they are suddenly taken ill with internal bleeding. Usually gastritis pain is located in the left upper portion of the abdomen or at the back and there are times when this pain travels from the belly to the back. Also if you vomit, then the vomit is either clear or it can be green or yellow in color, with light blood streaks on it. Along with this the patient experiences bloating and a feeling of fullness in the stomach along with burning in the upper abdomen. Foul smell and constant stomach burns are symptoms of gastritis.

Causes and Treatment of Gastritis:
Gastritis can develop due to various kinds of causes, which are psychological and physical or even chemical. It has been seen that this problem can start after major surgeries, severe infections and also due to a traumatic injury. Gastritis can also occur commonly in people who had weight loss surgery, which resulted in banding or reconstruction of the digestive tract. There are some non-erosive causes of gastritis and these include infection with bacteria like Helicobacter pylori. There are some diseases like pernicious anemia, chronic bile reflux and some autoimmune disorders that can cause this problem as well. There are two main forms of gastritis and these include acute and chronic forms, even though many other forms of the same exist.

It should be remembered that alcohol consumption does not cause chronic gastritis but can lead to acute gastritis. The chronic gastritis problems are caused due to foreign bodies attacking the stomach and other such reasons.


Treatments for Gastritis:
Home remedies: Homemade treatments are suggested for gastritis because they are very affective and dietary factors can help in fast healing of the problem. A well-balanced diet of three basic food groups, which include nuts, seeds and grains along with vegetables and fruits, should be taken.

Natural and Ayurvedic:

  • The patient should also avoid all forms of alcohol, nicotine, chilies, sour things, pickles, strong tea and coffee along with rich sweets and foods.
  • Carrot juice along with juice of spinach should be taken.
  • Carom seeds with pinch of salt should be taken.
  • Chew fresh ginger before each meal roasted funnel after meals.
  • Drink coconut water.
  • Take half cup of potato juice before meals.
  • Take lemon juice and water in plenty.
  • Take butter milk and curd along with asafetida and cumin water.
  • Take garlic enrolled in dry grape seeds.
  • Have tamarind water along with asafetida and cumin water.
