Elderly people should keep an eye on their health for this is the age that is prone to several diseases. It becomes really difficult to combat any health diseases at such old age since the body mechanism would have deteriorated over a period of time. Hence, it is important that you should be very cautious about your health especially at this juncture of life.

At old age, the body metabolism would have been lowered gradually. Thus, it is necessary that you watch your diet. Your body would have lost the capability to heal from diseases. Hence, you should maintain a very good health so that you can avoid several dreadful diseases.

Here are some tips on how to watch your health. It is important that you inculcate these healthy habits in you to enjoy a good, disease-free life.

  1. Switch to coarse grains and include lot of vegetables and fruits in your diet. This is the time when you need all the  vitamins and minerals that are helpful in repairing old tissues. Hence, you should resort to a green diet.

  2. You may consider going in for multivitamin supplements. It is important that you notice the nutrient levels in the food labels that you find. Go for those foods that come with enriched multivitamins.


  3. You should go for a medical check-up every 6 months. This helps in preventing any untoward diseases and health problems from occurring.


  4. You could start doing aerobic exercises. They help in regulating your respiratory system and hence prevent any respiratory related problems. They also help in burning excess fat and cholesterol thus resulting in good and healthy heart.


  5. Watch your steps. You have to prevent any chances of falling over. When you fall, your tissues could get damaged and the bone may fracture too. These won’t heal very quickly during old age. Hence, ensure that you walk carefully and slowly so that you don’t trip over anything.

  6. Limit alcohol consumption. It is important that you cut down on your alcohol consumption so that you don’t harm your liver which plays an important role in the digestion process.

  7. It is good to do brain exercises so that you don’t suffer from memory loss. This problem is common in most of the old aged people. Perhaps, this is really awful since you won’t even know what you did an hour ago or where you kept your car keys. Hence, by doing brain exercises, you are keeping your brain sound and healthy.

  8. Give up smoking at least now. Save yourself from the respiratory diseases. Smoking could lead to lung cancer and you know it too. It is definitely not an easy task. But, you should know that your smoking habit could interfere with your old age medication.

  9. Talk to others. Growing old is not a sin. Do not develop the inferiority complex in you. Talk to people around you. You will feel a lot better.

  10. Catch some sleep for those tired eyes. 8 hours of sleep is a must.
