What are Kidney Stones?
The term kidney stones have been used to define the solid concretions or crystal aggregations of dissolved minerals in urine and they are also called renal calculi. These calculi typically form inside the kidneys or bladder and they are also known as nephrolithiasis and urolithiasis, which means having the presence of calculi in the kidneys and urinary tract, respectively and this can cause a lot of pain and inconvenience to people who suffer from the same.

The other regular causes of kidney stones include Dent's disease, Hyperparathyroidism and even medullar sponge kidney. In most of the health facilities patients are screened for such disorders and this is typically done with a 24 hour urine collection. This sample is chemically analyzed for deficiencies factors that cause stone formation. It has been seen that these kidney stones are common in patients with Crohn's disease. There are various external factors that may lead to the formation of these kidney stones also and water fluoridation may increase the risk of the same.
